Network Engineering Specialist

We are looking for an eager, self-starting Network Engineering Specialist to join our team!  


  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Assist in selection and implementation of security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure (Cisco, F5, Routing/Switching, etc.)
  • Document and keep current, network architecture
  • Support ticket escalation point for network related issues/requests
  • Assist with process development and documentation (Create / Update FAQ’s, deployment guides, etc.)
  • Maintain competency and proficiency in network equipment in use
  • Assist with project duties as assigned
  • Other tasks, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Ability

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • Experience with Cisco switches, routers, F5 load balancers, other standardized networking equipment
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal), strong documentation skills
  • Ability to identify and analyze and prioritize incoming escalations and requests for assistance
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, troubleshooting, triage, and problem solving ability
  • Ability to follow established process, analyze and recommend process improvements
  • Highly motivated quick learner
  • Highly flexible.  Able to work variable hours including some overtime.
  • Works well under pressure, able to remain focused and professional during high stress situation
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, think “outside the box”, and be part of a highly motivated team of IT professionals
  • Centralized configuration management / deployment a plus (i.e. LMS/CSM)


  • A degree in computer science or a related field (or commensurate experience)
  • CCNP or higher (CCIE preferred)
  • 3-5 years Network administration and support experience
  • 2-4 years in a network engineering role

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit at computer for extended amounts of time.
  • Must be able to lift/move demo equipment (up to 250lbs) and 50 lbs unassisted
